Levin Baptist Church was planted in 1950 by a group of about 30 Christians, and their children, who had been meeting for fellowship informally in private homes for a few years prior.
The inaugural service was held at the Oddfellows hall, 268 Oxford St. The first sermon preached was on 1 Corinthians 3:9, that the people of the church are the building God that is building.
The following year Roy Upton was called as pastor and the current church building site was acquired in Rugby St.
Since then the members of Levin Baptist Church have continued working with God to help people come to know Jesus, and the life to the full he holds out to all who follow him.
